Florescence
I was sitting in the garden when I understood for the first time that one day I am going to die.
In that moment, the way that I saw everything changed. I had always thought the world beautiful, but treated it with the casual lack of concern of someone who thinks they have forever.
Now, the beauty of the flowers growing around me almost broke my heart! Their petals luminant, curving up towards the sun. Intensely precious, all the more so because their blooms are so fleeting.
After leaving the garden I started creating this painting, titling it ‘Florescence’ which means to flower, just as you and I are currently in the beautiful florescence of our lives.
Thank you so much to Jessica Candradi for allowing me to take inspiration from her image for this painting.
