An Everyday Angel

My ‘An Everyday Angel’ aims to draw attention to the kind, real-life angels found all around us. I painted the young girl in the bottom of the frame in order to imitate a ‘grown ups’ view, looking down at her. I added barely-there wings, with the idea that her ‘angelic’ qualities are not visible to the unobservant eye, though nevertheless they are there.

This is the second ‘Everyday Angel’ in my collection and I hope to do several more, with ‘angels’ from all over the world.

Thank you to Steve McCurry for allowing me to use his image as inspiration.

In many of my paintings I use a reference image for inspiration, then modify, adding elements to create the emotions I hope to convey.
