This artwork is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery using lacquer mixed with powdered gold. In this way they are able to celebrate the fractures as part of the item’s life, as opposed to trying to hide the breakage.

I like the idea that we can become stronger and create something beautiful from the challenges we experience. Adversity can change us, but in putting our pieces back together we emerge stronger.
